So, here I am. In Fort Wayne, Indiana! Who knew???
I didn't. I always thought that if we moved, it would be forever away from Ohio. But alas, we only made it about 60 miles... But we are in a new state. And city. So that is a little exciting.
We are enjoying this new chapter in life so far. Yes, I have been here about 10 days. So I guess I can't make any firm decisions. But it's been fun. Busy. Chaotic. Boxy. But fun.
Our new house is cute. We are renting for now. We will see where life takes us. We'd like to buy a house after a year or so. That would be REALLY exciting! Renting is okay, but it does always feel temporary. "Should I hang this giant mirror that will create huge holes in the wall when we take it down a year from now?" The answer is always no. =( I also would like to paint, but most places won't let you and plus, why spend all that money and work on a place you are leaving in less than 12 months?? I can't wait to make improvements on a house that is OURS.
But then after this last move... I am not ready to do it again so soon. It was a lot of WORK. Maybe it was because I was sick at the time, but man.. I don't remember any of my last 4 moves being that difficult. Ryan and I together have a lot of stuff. A LOT. We filled up a the largest U-Haul they had and then some. Plus it's not like we were moving across town, like all my other moves. We wanted to do it in one trip. And we did. With a few casualties. Including our grill, coat rack and my white bookshelf. [still upset about that]
My family was amazing. Everyone came out, in the cold, WITH colds, and helped us move. We couldn't have done it without them. Then my parents and sister came out this past weekend and helped me continue the unpacking. I was losing steam and interest. Ryan's been working long hours with the new job, so it was nice to have some people to hang out with!
I started working from home after the move. My company kept me on, which is amazing. But it's just me... So I am a little starved for conversation most days. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the solitude. But when I have a chance to chat it up, I jump on it. Much to the Target cashier's dismay. Haha. Everyone in Fort Wayne seems to be really nice.
They make eye contact and say hello here.
It's taking sometime to adjust.
