Living and learning

Can I just say... God has blessed me so incredibly much. I can't even put it into words. I have a really wonderful life. And I owe it all to Him. He has orchestrated every moment bringing me to where I am today. I look back, and I see him so clearly in all those pivotal times.

It feels weird to even say this, but sometimes I wonder if/when it is all going to come crashing down. I think it's because we live in such a negative world and there are so many horrible things that happen to so many GOOD people every day. And I think to myself, how can my life possibly stay so blissful? Look at what so and so is going through, or what they are having to deal with. What makes my life exempt? Nothing. Nothing does.

So I choose to enjoy today and every moment of bliss that I have! The Lord has provided for me in every way, and I want to live a life worthy of that. I often fall short, but hey, that's what grace is for. "The beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair..."

This is not what I meant for this post to be about. I just got caught up in thinking about my life and how on earth do I deserve this? My amazing husband, our little pit bull, and this beautiful home of ours. So thankful and grateful.

So anyway.

We've been working on the house slowly. It's really difficult to find time for everything. Since we both work full-time, plus it's summer and it seems like we always have somewhere we need to be on the weekend. I learned to use the drill last Saturday. I finally started hanging up curtain rods. And hand towel holders. And things of that nature.

Ryan has been so consumed with the privacy fence. I've been attempting to help out now since there is stuff I can do. Like staining the giant, enormous, never ending fence. (You have to do BOTH sides. Ughh) I spend my lunch breaks with a paint brush and Pandora, sweltering through the hottest week we've had this year.

We finished our bookshelves over the weekend. Well, we have a few more things we want to do to really make them beautiful. But they are up and mounted and I can finally put things on the shelves. The important thing is no more boxes in the living room! ...Okay, there is still one. I can honestly seriously say I am still loving our house and all our little homeowner projects. I love it so much I keep adding to the list of things to do. Haha. What I really want to do is go shopping. But I am holding out for as long as I can. So that maybe I will have money and my husband won't get mad when he sees my credit card balance.

In other news, I have surprisingly been reading a lot. Partly due to the bookclub I am in, and partly due to having no friends. Also going to the library is one of the few FREE things I can do to get out of the house. I need a life, people.

Things I want to do in the not-so-distant future:

1. Check out the Farmer's Market on Wednesday nights in our new town. I am on a new eating plan/diet/thing and it's all about raw healthy foods for the most part. Also don't have carbs when your meal is high in fat and vice versa. I like it and I feel healthier and I'm losing weight. So that's 3 for 3. [rant] Also, I wish people would stop being negative when I say I am trying to eat differently. Immediately I get responses of "oh you don't need to do that" or "you'll gain it right back" and "just change your activity level". Who needs that? I have enough negativity in my own head, I don't need it from other people, too. [/end rant]

2. Finish up my volunteer hours at the zoo. I miss that place. I just need to get 3 more hours in so that I am not a complete failure of a volunteer.

3. Actually try and do a little bit of conditioning before the 5K I am running at the end of August. I have roughly one month to prepare so that I do not make a fool of myself. On the bright side, it is a Color Run and so maybe the clouds of color will disguise my inability to look normal while running. And possibly no one will even notice!

I will end this post with some random photos for your viewing pleasure.

This is a sandwich on BREAD that I made. Yes, I made bread.  THM-approved.
Curtains that I hung and hemmed all by myself. Sorry it is so dark.

My fence-staining progress.

A peaceful morning, a cup of coffee and a good book.

Our shelving! I still need to find the tote that has all my books in it. They shall finally have a home!

I was standing on the back patio, and felt so happy in that moment.
What a beautiful sky and trees. And this yard is mine, all mine!
